Wasting Away Movie Summary

Icy Infection: From Treats to Zombies

Horror,Comedy  United States of America

Wasting Away is a horror-comedy film directed by Matthew Kohnen and released in 2007. The movie follows a group of four friends: Mike, Tim, Cindy, and Vanessa, who enjoy a night out at a bowling alley. The festivities take an unexpected turn when they decide to try a new flavor of ice cream called Ale Cream. Little do they know, the ice cream is actually a military experiment filled with a radioactive serum that turns them into zombies.

The quartet, still stuck in their own version of reality, believes they have turned into super soldiers and decide to assist an army unit that believes they are fighting zombies. The soldiers mistake the group of four for actual soldiers and try to recruit them to help fight the zombies. Mike, Tim, Cindy, and Vanessa don't realize that they are the supposed zombies and eagerly join the "fight."

As they navigate through the chaos and destruction of their perceived world, they meet up with another group of survivors who have not been affected by the radioactive serum. The group tries to get the four friends to realize that they are not super soldiers, but zombies. But the four friends are slow to catch on as they continue to demonstrate their "abilities" to everyone else.

Wasting Away is a satirical take on zombie films and military culture. The film features unique camera work and cinematography as the perspective shifts between the "zombies" and the "humans." It is a fun, light-hearted film that provides a fresh take on the zombie genre.
