The college student, Kris Miller, inherits the house from her biological mother whom she never knew existed. She decides to take a trip to the house, located on a remote island off the coast of Massachusetts, with her friends, including her love interest, Trey, and her sarcastic best friend, Julie.
Upon arrival, they discover that the house is in a state of disrepair and that strange occurrences are happening. Kris begins to experience vivid nightmares while strange symbols and eerie messages appear on the walls. Trey finds a hidden room filled with strange artifacts and an old book containing dark magic spells.
As the group begins to uncover the secrets of the house and its previous inhabitants, they realize that an evil warlock, who was executed centuries ago, is seeking revenge. The warlock possesses the body of one of the friends and begins to wreak havoc, forcing the group to fight for their lives and try to stop the warlock from completing his evil plans.
Throughout the movie, Kris also struggles to come to terms with her newfound identity and connection to the dark magic inside the house. In the end, the group is able to defeat the warlock and save themselves, but not without lasting consequences on their relationships and inner selves.
