The movie Waiting... is set in Shenanigan's, a popular restaurant chain that is similar to Bennigan's. The story follows the everyday lives of the restaurant's employees, who are all young adults struggling to find direction in their lives.
The main character is Dean, who works as a waiter and is also a senior employee. He is overly confident in his job, and he spends most of his time playing pranks on other employees. His friend and fellow waiter, Monty, is more level-headed and wants to focus on his relationship with Serena, the hostess.
As they go about their daily routine, they must deal with difficult customers and their idiosyncrasies. One customer, for instance, insists on ordering a cheeseburger without cheese. The employees also have to deal with their movie-obsessed manager, Dan, who wants to turn Shenanigan's into a model restaurant.
Meanwhile, the employees spend their time finding ways to mess with each other and make their shifts more enjoyable. They also deal with issues such as underperforming employees and the overall stress of working in the restaurant industry.
Towards the end of the movie, a confrontation between Dean and Monty leads to a realization for both of them. They come to understand the importance of their relationships and of finding meaning in their lives, both inside and outside of Shenanigan's. Finally, they must decide whether to stay at the restaurant or move on to pursue their dreams.
