Riva is a small-time operator who has returned to Kinshasa with a fortune obtained illegally in Angola. He is a charming and ambitious man who is determined to live life on his own terms. Kinshasa is a vibrant city with a seedy underbelly, where money talks and corruption is rife. Fuel is in short supply, and the black market for petrol is booming. Riva sees an opportunity to make a fortune by stealing a secret cache of fuel from a powerful gangster named Cesar. With the help of his sidekick, a charismatic nightclub owner named J.M., Riva sets out to pull off the heist of the century. But they are not the only ones who want the fuel. Cesar is ruthless and will stop at nothing to protect his assets. Meanwhile, Riva is pursued by a beautiful, mysterious woman named Nora, who may be his salvation or his undoing.
