Viper Club follows the story of Helen Sterling, a dedicated ER nurse whose world is shattered when her journalist son, Andy, is taken captive by a known Islamist extremist group while reporting in Syria.

Despite her best efforts to work with the FBI and State agencies to secure her son's release, Helen is constantly met with bureaucratic red tape and stonewalled at every turn. As the weeks turn into months, Helen becomes more and more desperate to find a way to help her son.

It's then that she discovers a network of people who are working behind the scenes to help journalists who are in dangerous situations. This covert group includes journalists, advocates, and philanthropists, many of whom have experienced firsthand the dangers of reporting from conflict zones.

Working with these individuals, Helen begins to explore unconventional avenues to try to free her son, including seeking out a wealthy philanthropist who may be able to financially assist in his release and forming a plan to travel to the Middle East herself to negotiate Andy's freedom.

Throughout the film, Viper Club offers an unflinching look at the challenges faced by journalists who cover conflicts, the difficulties their families face, and the lengths that both must go to in order to stay safe and stay informed.
