In the movie "Violets Are Blue," Gussie Svec (played by Sissy Spacek) is a successful photographer who returns to her childhood home, a small coastal town in Maryland, for a retrospective exhibition of her work. She reunites with a former high school sweetheart, Henry Squires (played by Kevin Kline), who is now a local newspaper reporter. They quickly rekindle their romance, despite the fact that Henry is married and has two children.

As Gussie spends more time in the town, she becomes conflicted about whether to stay with Henry or return to her jet-setting lifestyle. She also starts to reconnect with old friends and reflect on the choices she has made in her life. Meanwhile, Henry struggles with his feelings for Gussie and the responsibility he feels towards his family.

The film explores themes of love, regret, and the search for identity. It was released in 1986 and directed by Jack Fisk.
