Victor/Victoria is a 1982 musical comedy directed by Blake Edwards and starring Julie Andrews, James Garner, and Robert Preston. Andrews plays Victoria Grant, a struggling soprano who is unable to find work in Paris during the Great Depression. While dining with a friend, Carroll Todd (Preston), she hears about a lucrative job opportunity as a male female impersonator, also known as a drag queen.

Against her better judgment, Victoria decides to audition for the job and is hired by nightclub owner Toddy. She assumes the persona of Count Victor Grazinski and becomes an overnight sensation, drawing large crowds to the nightclub. Victoria's talent and success are noticed by King Marchand (Garner), a gangster from Chicago who becomes obsessed with Victor and tries to pursue a romantic relationship with the male persona.

As Victoria struggles to maintain her dual identities and keep her personal life separate from her public persona, complications arise when Marchand's bodyguard, Squash (Alex Karras), becomes suspicious of Victor's true gender. Additionally, Victoria finds herself falling in love with Toddy, which further complicates things as she cannot reveal her true identity to him.

As tensions rise and secrets are revealed, Victoria is faced with a decision: continue to live as Victor and risk losing everything, or reveal the truth and face the consequences. The film ultimately explores themes of gender bending, identity, and the social constructions of gender roles.

Victor/Victoria was a critical and commercial success, earning numerous award nominations and wins, including an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. The film remains a beloved classic and is considered one of Julie Andrews' most iconic roles.
