V/H/S/85 is a sequel to the hit found footage horror anthology franchise V/H/S. The film opens with a group of young adults breaking into an abandoned house in search of a mysterious VHS tape. They stumble upon an old television set and a pile of tapes, and decide to watch them. What they find are five terrifying stories, each one more gruesome than the last.
The first story, "The House on the Lake," follows a group of teenagers who go on a weekend getaway to a remote cabin by a lake. They soon discover that the house is haunted by the spirits of the previous owners, who were brutally murdered years before. As the night wears on, the teenagers realize they are not alone in the house.
The second story, "The Cult," centers around a documentary crew investigating a mysterious cult in the countryside. As they delve deeper into the cult's practices, they begin to experience strange and horrifying visions. Soon, they realize that they are in way over their heads, and that the cult's dark secrets are far more sinister than they could have ever imagined.
In the third story, "The Auction," a group of wealthy collectors bid on a mysterious box said to contain a cursed artifact. As the bidding war heats up, the collectors begin to experience strange hallucinations and terrifying visions. They soon realize that they have unleashed an unspeakable evil that will stop at nothing to claim their souls.
The fourth story, "The School," follows a group of high school students as they uncover a sinister plot involving their teachers and a demon summoning ritual. As they race against time to uncover the truth, they find themselves trapped in a terrifying nightmare that threatens to consume them all.
The final story, "The Escape," centers on a group of prisoners who break out of a high-security prison and stumble upon a secret government facility. Inside, they discover a sinister experiment being conducted on human subjects, and must fight for their lives against the monstrous creations that have been unleashed.
As the night wears on and the horrors escalate, the young adults realize that they may have bitten off more than they can chew, and that their search for the mysterious VHS tape may have led them straight into the jaws of a nightmare.
