Vexille is a Japanese animated science fiction movie that was released in 2007. The movie is directed by Fumihiko Sori and produced by Shuhei Akita and Haruka Soya.
The story is set in the year 2067 and centers around Japan, which has cut itself off from the rest of the world following the imposition of strict limits on the use of robotic technology. The government has sealed the country, and nobody is allowed to enter or leave. A group of scientists and engineers, who were passionate about advancing Japan's robotics technology, were trapped within the country.
Ten years later, in 2077, the veil of seclusion is breached as the United States and her allies send an organization called S.W.O.R.D. to investigate reports of Japan developing bio-technology using robotics, a technology forbidden due to its threat to humans. The organization infiltrates Japan under the guise of conducting humanitarian aid programs, but with secret intentions of seeking out the truth behind the reported bio-technology.
Vexille, a former S.W.O.R.D member, now works with a group of rogue soldiers determined to uncover the truth behind Japan's isolation. She infiltrates the country to find her lost friend, Takeshi, and uncovers a conspiracy that threatens humanity.
Throughout the movie, Vexille confronts the dangers of advanced robotics and the consequences of their misuse while also dealing with the internal conflicts within the organization she belongs to. The movie brings up questions about the role of technology in society and how its advancement can lead to unintended consequences.
