Lilly (Dakota Fanning) and Gerri (Elizabeth Olsen) are two best friends from New York City who are on the cusp of graduating high school and heading off to college. They both come from privileged backgrounds, with Lilly's parents being wealthy doctors and Gerri's mother being a successful actress.
Lilly and Gerri make a pact to lose their virginity during their first summer out of high school, as they feel it will be an important step towards adulthood. They spend their days going to the beach, hanging out at parties and trying to find suitable candidates for their pact.
Their search takes a turn when they both become interested in a handsome and mysterious street artist named David (Boyd Holbrook). As Lilly and Gerri both start to fall for David, their friendship begins to unravel and their connection is tested for the first time.
