As Benjamin and Joe's group heads towards Vera Cruz, they encounter a group of revolutionaries led by General Ramirez, who are attempting to overthrow Maximilian's regime. Benjamin and Joe soon find themselves in the middle of a power struggle between the Mexican Imperial Army and the revolutionaries.
Along the way, they also discover that Countess Marie is not just any noblewoman, but is in fact, a former lover of Maximilian and a spy working for the revolutionary cause. Hesitant at first, Benjamin and Joe eventually decide to switch sides and join the revolutionaries in their fight.
