Vellai Pookal is a Tamil-language crime thriller film directed by Vivek Elangovan. The retired cop, Rudhran, played by veteran actor Vivekh, travels to the US to live with his son, Ajay, played by Charlie. Rudhran is trying to come to terms with retirement and is trying to find a purpose in life.

However, as Rudhran delves deeper into the case, he realizes that the kidnapper is someone he knows and is close to his family. The case becomes too personal for Rudhran, and he is torn between his duty to find the girl and his loyalty to his family.
