Vegas Vacation is a 1997 American comedy film, directed by Stephen Kessler, and starring Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid, Ethan Embry, Marisol Nichols, and Wallace Shawn. It is the fourth installment in National Lampoon's Vacation film series.
The film follows the Griswold family as they head to Las Vegas, hoping to win big and have the time of their lives. With their teenage son Rusty now played by Ethan Embry, they arrive at the Mirage in Las Vegas, where they are greeted by Cousin Eddie and his family.
Clark becomes addicted to gambling, loses all their money, grows estranged from Ellen and their children, and spends a night lounging on a statue in the hotel's fountain, clad only in his boxer shorts.
Audiences and critics were generally disappointed with Vegas Vacation, saying that it lacked the charm and wit of the earlier films in the series. Nevertheless, the film was a financial success, grossing $36 million against a $25 million budget.
