Varathan is about a couple, Abin and Priya, who move from Dubai to a secluded villa in Kerala, India. However, their peaceful life is disturbed by a group of men who enter their house and threaten them. The film navigates through themes of misogyny, patriarchy, and power dynamics, and promises to be a gritty and intense thriller.
Fahadh Faasil plays the character of Abin, while Aishwarya Lekshmi plays his wife, Priya. This is the second collaboration between Faasil and director Amal Neerad, who have previously worked together on the film Iyobinte Pusthakam.
Varathan's trailer has garnered a lot of attention and has been praised for its intense and gripping visuals. The film is set to release in September 2018.
