Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is a Japanese animated movie released in 2000, directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, and based on the novel Vampire Hunter D by Hideyuki Kikuchi. The movie is a sequel to the 1985 Vampire Hunter D movie, and it follows the adventures of the titular character, a half-human, half-vampire hunter named D.

The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where vampires and humans coexist, but tensions run high as each side seeks to gain power and dominance over the other. Meier Link, a powerful vampire, has kidnapped Charlotte Elbourne, a human noblewoman, and taken her to his castle in the countryside. Her family hires D to rescue her, but the Markus Brothers, a group of vampire hunters, also take the job and try to beat D to the castle.

D is a skilled hunter, but he is also a loner and a mysterious figure. He rides a technologically advanced horse and carries a cursed, sentient sword that talks to him and occasionally gives him cryptic clues. Along the way, D befriends Leila, a human woman who is also a skilled warrior and member of the Markus Brothers. They team up to face the dangers of the vampire's castle, which include traps, monsters, and other deadly hunters who are also after Meier Link.

As D and Leila progress through the castle, they discover that Meier Link's motives might not be as simple as kidnapping Charlotte. He has fallen in love with her and wants to take her away to a hidden land where vampires and humans can coexist in peace. Charlotte, on the other hand, is torn between her feelings for Meier and her duty to her family and society.

The movie is known for its stunning animation, gothic aesthetics, and action-packed fight scenes. It explores themes of love, loyalty, and identity in a world where different species must learn to coexist despite their differences. The voice cast includes Andrew Philpot as D, John Rafter Lee as Meier Link, and Pamela Adlon as Charlotte Elbourne. The movie was well received by critics and fans of the horror and anime genres alike, and it has since become a cult classic.
