Valley of the Dolls is a 1967 drama film based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Jacqueline Susann. The film was directed by Mark Robson and stars Barbara Parkins as Anne Welles, Patty Duke as Neely O'Hara, Sharon Tate as Jennifer North, and Susan Hayward as Helen Lawson.

The movie begins with Anne Welles, a young and ambitious woman from New England, arriving in New York City to pursue a career in show business. She lands a job as a secretary at a theatrical law firm, where she meets and falls in love with the handsome and charismatic attorney Lyon Burke.

Anne quickly befriends another young woman named Neely O'Hara, a talented but temperamental singer who is struggling to make it in the industry. Neely is eventually discovered by a powerful producer, and her career takes off, leading to a turbulent and ultimately tragic rise to fame.

Meanwhile, Jennifer North, a beautiful but talentless actress, turns to modeling and acting in pornographic films to make a living until she can land a big break. Her relationship with a wealthy businessman ends in heartbreak, and ultimately, tragedy.

As the three women navigate the ups and downs of the entertainment industry and their personal lives, they become increasingly dependent on pills known as "dolls" to cope with their struggles. This addiction leads to even more problems and heartbreak for each of them.

The film explores themes of sexism, addiction, and the corrupting influence of fame and success, culminating in a heartbreaking and tragic ending for each of the three women. Despite initially receiving mixed reviews, Valley of the Dolls has since become a cult classic and a staple of the "so-bad-it's-good" movie genre.
