Drama,History  United Kingdom,United States of America

Valentino is a biographical drama film released in 1977 and directed by Ken Russell. It tells the story of Rudolph Valentino, a famous silent film star who became a heartthrob to women everywhere. The film focuses primarily on the last years of his life, including his tumultuous relationships with women and his battles with studio bosses who wanted to control his image.

The film begins with Valentino (played by Rudolf Nureyev) arriving in Hollywood from New York City in 1917. He quickly rises to fame, thanks to his good looks and charisma on screen. However, he soon becomes disillusioned with the film industry and its obsession with money and power.

Despite his success, Valentino is unable to find true love. He is married briefly to an actress named Jean Acker (played by Leslie Caron), but the marriage is annulled after a few days. Valentino then meets and falls in love with a young woman named Natacha Rambova (played by Michelle Phillips), who becomes his next wife. However, their relationship is strained by her controlling nature and his desire for independence.

The film culminates with the release of Valentino's final film, The Son of the Sheik. Unfortunately, just as his career is reaching new heights, he suddenly falls ill and dies at the age of 31. The news of his death causes mass hysteria among his female fans, some of whom riot in the streets or commit suicide.

Valentino received mixed reviews upon its release, with some critics praising Nureyev's performance but criticizing the film's melodramatic tone. Despite this, it remains a popular biographical drama about one of silent film's most iconic stars.
