Used Cars is a 1980 American comedy film directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Kurt Russell as Rudy Russo, a fast-talking, sleazy used-car salesman working for an auto dealership on the brink of bankruptcy. After the owner of the dealership, a corrupt and unscrupulous character named Luke Fuchs (Jack Warden), dies in a fiery car crash, his scheming brother Roy (also played by Warden), who runs a competing dealership across the street, sees an opportunity to acquire the lot and put Rudy out of business.

With the help of his motley crew of coworkers, including the bumbling Jeff (Gerrit Graham) and the wise-cracking Jim (Frank McRae), Rudy hatches a plan to rig a live, televised demo derby to boost sales and save the dealership from falling into the hands of Roy. Meanwhile, Rudy meets Barbara Jane (Deborah Harmon), a beautiful but tough-as-nails reporter who is initially skeptical of Rudy's shady business practices but becomes his ally in the battle against Roy.

Things come to a head when Roy enlists the help of a corrupt state senator (Joseph P. Flaherty) to shut down Rudy's dealership and end his career once and for all. But with the help of a group of loyal customers and some clever maneuvering, Rudy manages to outsmart Roy and emerge victorious in the end.

Filled with zany characters, outrageous stunts, and over-the-top humor, Used Cars is a rollicking romp through the world of used-car sales that delivers laughs and thrills in equal measure.
