In the movie, Ataru and his friends find themselves caught in a time loop where the same day keeps repeating itself. The events of the day are centered around the Tomobiki High School carnival, with Ataru trying to win a costume contest and his girlfriend Lum trying to sell her UFO merchandize.
As they try to figure out what's causing the time loop and how to break it, they encounter bizarre phenomena such as a floating castle in the sky and a villainous entity known as the Oni.
At the same time, the characters' personalities and behaviors begin to change, with Ataru becoming more introspective and Lum becoming more confident and assertive. The time loop also creates an existential crisis for the characters, as they begin to question the meaning of their existence and their relationships with each other.
The movie combines humor, surrealism, and philosophical introspection, making it a standout in the Urusei Yatsura franchise.
