Uptown Girls

Comedy  United States of America

Molly Gunn (played by Brittany Murphy) is a carefree young woman who has never had to work a day in her life, thanks to the inheritance left by her rockstar father. However, when her manager steals all her money, she is forced to find a job to make ends meet. She eventually ends up working as a nanny for Ray (played by Dakota Fanning), the mature and serious daughter of a music executive.

At first, Molly and Ray clash due to their vastly different personalities and lifestyles. However, over time, they begin to bond as Molly teaches Ray how to loosen up and have fun, while Ray helps Molly grow up and learn responsibility. Along the way, Molly also finds love with Neal (played by Jesse Spencer), a struggling musician who becomes her love interest.

The film deals with themes of growing up, responsibility, loss, and the importance of family and friendship. It also explores the relationship between parents and children, as both Molly and Ray have complicated relationships with their own parents.

Uptown Girls was released in 2003 and was directed by Boaz Yakin. It received mixed reviews from critics but was popular with audiences, grossing over $44 million at the box office. It remains a cult classic and a beloved coming-of-age film for many.
