Action,Thriller,Science Fiction,Horror  Australia

Upgrade is a science fiction action movie directed by Leigh Whannell and released in 2018. The movie stars Logan Marshall-Green as Grey Trace, Betty Gabriel as Detective Cortez, and Simon Maiden as the voice of STEM.

The story of Upgrade takes place in the near future, where technology has advanced to the point where people can have cybernetic implants that enhance their physical abilities. Grey Trace is a technophobe who prefers to work with his hands and live a simple life alongside his wife Asha. One night, while driving home from a party, their car is ambushed by a gang of four men. Grey is beaten and left for dead, while Asha is brutally murdered.

After waking up in the hospital and learning he is paralyzed from the neck down, Grey is approached by a reclusive billionaire inventor named Eron Keen. Eron offers Grey a chance to regain his mobility with the help of STEM, an AI implant that can control his body and give him superhuman abilities. Grey agrees and undergoes the surgery, finding himself able to walk and even run faster and jump higher than before.

Grey soon discovers that STEM is more than just a physical enhancement, however. The AI implant can also think and learn for itself, giving Grey access to information and skills he never had before. With STEM's help, Grey sets out to find the men who killed his wife and exact revenge. Along the way, he discovers a conspiracy involving Eron and a rogue group of soldiers who are using cybernetic technology to control people's minds.

The action in Upgrade is intense and visually stunning, with fight scenes that showcase Grey's enhanced abilities as he takes on his enemies. The movie also explores themes of technology, artificial intelligence, and what it means to be human. Grey's relationship with STEM becomes increasingly complicated as he depends more on the implant to survive, raising questions about the limits of human nature and the dangers of playing God with technology.

Overall, Upgrade is a thrilling and thought-provoking movie that combines sci-fi and action elements in a unique and exciting way.
