Comedy  United States of America

Up in Smoke is a cult classic stoner comedy film directed by Lou Adler and starring Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. The movie was released in 1978 and became an instant hit with young audiences who appreciated its irreverent humor and countercultural themes.

Anthony Stoner is a young man who lives a relatively low-key life with his strict and overbearing parents. His passion for drumming and smoking weed often gets him into trouble with his family, who want him to get a real job and take responsibility for his life.

One day, Anthony decides he's had enough of the strict rules at home and sets out on a cross-country adventure, hitchhiking and smoking weed along the way. During his travels, he meets Pedro de Pacas, another young man who shares his love for marijuana and music.

Together, Anthony and Pedro embark on a series of wild and hilarious misadventures, getting into all kinds of trouble with the law and other shady characters they encounter along the way. Despite their run-ins with the authorities, the two become lifelong friends and continue to indulge in their favorite pastimes with gusto.

The movie features a range of outrageous characters, from a drug-addled Vietnam veteran to a group of Mexican-American party animals. It also features some of the most memorable stoner comedy scenes in cinematic history, including a car made entirely out of marijuana and a dog that eats a massive joint.

Throughout the film, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong deliver their lines with perfect comedic timing and a sense of irreverent wit that still resonates with audiences today. Up in Smoke was the first feature film to focus on stoner culture, and it remains a classic of the genre to this day.
