Until Death is a 2007 action-thriller film directed by Simon Fellows and starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. The film follows the story of Anthony Stowe, a corrupt and drug-addicted New Orleans police detective. He is hated by his colleagues, including his wife Valerie (played by Selina Giles), who is also a police officer.
Following a sting operation gone wrong, Stowe is shot in the head by his own partner, Gabriel Callaghan (played by Stephen Rea). He falls into a coma and is declared brain dead. At this point, his wife signs an authorization for his organs to be donated and he is disconnected from life support.
However, Stowe unexpectedly wakes up after two months in a coma. He discovers that his wife has remarried and he has lost everything due to his past behavior. Stowe becomes a changed man and sets out to confront his past sins, rectify his mistakes, and seek redemption.
He begins by finding Gabriel Callaghan and attempts to bring him to justice for his betrayal. Simultaneously, Stowe struggles with his addiction and the threat of drug dealers who want their money back. As Stowe tries to rebuild his life, he must also protect his family from the dangerous forces that are after him.
Until Death is a classic Van Damme film that offers plenty of action and violence while also exploring the themes of redemption and the fight against addiction. The film received mixed reviews but was praised for Van Damme's acting and commitment to his role as a complex and flawed character.
