Unpregnant follows the story of Veronica, a high-achieving 17-year old girl living in Missouri who discovers that she's pregnant. However, instead of wanting to keep the baby, Veronica decides to have an abortion as she feels that it will help her achieve her dreams of attending an Ivy League college and pursuing a successful career.
With Missouri laws mandating parental consent for minors seeking abortions, Veronica is unable to get the procedure done without her conservative parents finding out. In order to get to New Mexico where she can get an abortion without parental consent, Veronica enlists the help of a former best friend Bailey, who drives her on a 900 mile road trip.
The movie follows Veronica and Bailey's journey, as they rediscover their friendship, encounter obstacles along the way, and ultimately support each other as Veronica goes through a life-changing decision.
Unpregnant has been praised for its honest and empowering portrayal of teenage pregnancy and abortion, and for showcasing the importance of female friendships and support. The film stars Haley Lu Richardson as Veronica and Barbie Ferreira as Bailey, and is based on the novel of the same name by Jenni Hendriks and Ted Caplan.
