Luc Devereaux (played by Jean-Claude Van Damme) and Andrew Scott (played by Dolph Lundgren) are two American soldiers who are killed in Vietnam, but are secretly revived by the military as part of a secret government project called "UniSol." They are turned into semi-android soldiers with enhanced strength, agility and reflexes.

Years later, the program is deemed a failure and the UniSols are decommissioned and put in cryogenic storage. However, when a group of terrorists take over the facility and threaten to launch a nuclear missile, Devereaux and Scott are resurrected to stop them.

As the mission progresses, Devereaux begins experiencing flashbacks and starts to remember his past, including the betrayal that led to his death and his relationship with reporter Veronica Roberts (played by Ally Walker). With the help of Roberts, Devereaux sets out to get revenge and take down the corrupt military officials who betrayed him.

The film features intense action sequences and explores themes of memory, identity, and morality in the context of advanced military technology. It was a major commercial success and spawned several sequels and spin-offs.
