Union Bound is a historical drama film based on the true story of Sargent Joseph Hoover, who joined the Union Army to preserve the unity of the United States during the American Civil War.

The movie portrays Hoover's experiences as a soldier during the war, including his capture by Confederate soldiers and subsequent imprisonment at the infamous Andersonville prison camp. The conditions at the camp were horrific, with overcrowding, malnourishment, disease, and brutal treatment by the prison guards. Hoover witnessed the suffering and death of many of his fellow prisoners and began to understand the injustice of holding people against their will.

With the help of a fellow prisoner, a Canadian named Clarence, Hoover plots an escape from the prison camp. The two men make their way through the woods and stumble upon a group of escaped slaves who are also seeking freedom. The slaves, who have formed a hidden community, agree to help the soldiers escape and provide them with food, clothing, and shelter.

As the group navigates through the dangerous terrain, they encounter various obstacles, including slave catchers, Confederate patrols, and dangerous animals. Along the way, Hoover and Clarence develop a deep respect and admiration for the strong and courageous people who risk their lives to help them.

Union Bound is a powerful and inspiring story of survival, friendship, and humanity in the face of overwhelming adversity. It highlights the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom and justice during one of the darkest periods in American history.
