Unhinged is a 2020 American thriller film directed by Derrick Borte and written by Carl Ellsworth. The film stars Russell Crowe, Caren Pistorius, Gabriel Bateman, Jimmi Simpson, and Austin P. McKenzie.
The movie follows Rachel (Caren Pistorius), a single mother who is going through a divorce and struggling with her financial situation. One day, while stuck in traffic, Rachel honks her horn at a pickup truck in front of her, driven by an unstable man named Tom Cooper (Russell Crowe).
Tom, angered by the honking, confronts Rachel at a traffic light and demands an apology. When Rachel refuses, Tom decides to teach her a lesson by following her and her son, Kyle (Gabriel Bateman), and unleashing a wave of terror on their lives. Tom becomes increasingly violent as he stalks the family, killing anyone who gets in his way.
Rachel must fight to protect herself and her son from Tom’s maniacal wrath, and after several high stakes car chases and shootouts, confronts Tom in a final climactic battle.
Unhinged is a fast-paced, intense thriller that explores the dangers of road rage and the unexpected consequences of their actions. Crowe delivers a frighteningly convincing performance as the unhinged Tom, while Pistorius gives a strong, empathetic portrayal of a woman fighting for her life.
