Under the Skin is a science fiction horror film directed by Jonathan Glazer, based on the novel of the same name by Michel Faber. The story follows an alien, played by Scarlett Johansson, who has taken the form of a woman. She prowls the streets of Glasgow, Scotland, in a white van, hypnotizing and luring in men for her own mysterious and malevolent purposes.
As the alien seductress, Johansson's character is cold and emotionless, seemingly devoid of any empathy or compassion. She is ruthlessly efficient in her mission, but as she spends more time on Earth, her encounters with humans start to affect her in unexpected ways. She begins to question her own identity, and her goals and desires become increasingly ambiguous.
Throughout the film, the viewer is taken on a haunting and surreal journey through Glasgow, as the alien seductress preys on her victims, and faces her own existential crisis. Under the Skin is a deeply unsettling and thought-provoking film that explores themes of identity, sexuality, isolation, and empathy.
