Under the Cherry Moon is a 1986 romantic comedy-drama film directed by and starring the legendary musician Prince in his directorial debut. The film takes place in the French Riviera in the late 1920s and follows the lives of two American friends, Christopher Tracy (Prince) and Tricky (Jerome Benton), who make a living by scamming money off wealthy women.
One day, they come across Mary Sharon (Kristin Scott Thomas), a beautiful young woman set to inherit $50 million from her recently deceased father. Tricky convinces Christopher to romance her for her money, but as he spends more time with Mary, he falls deeply in love with her.
Christopher and Mary start a relationship, but their happiness is jeopardized when Tricky tells Mary about the plan. Mary is disgusted and heartbroken, but Christopher tries to explain that he truly loves her and wants to be with her, even if it means giving up the money.
