Undead is a 2003 Australian horror-comedy film directed by Michael and Peter Spierig. The movie follows the story of a small fishing village called Berkeley, which is hit by a meteor shower that turns the villagers into flesh-eating zombies.
The film centers around a local beauty pageant winner, Rene, who gets drawn into the chaos and becomes one of the few uninfected residents. Together with a group of survivors, including a gun-crazy farmer, a tough cop, and a couple of backpackers, Rene sets out to find a way to escape the infected town.
As they navigate their way through the town, the group encounters a range of bizarre phenomena, including flying saucers, government conspiracies, and giant mutant crabs. But as the group fights to stay alive, they soon discover that the zombie outbreak is not just a random act of nature but is linked to a much bigger and darker conspiracy.
Undead is known for its over-the-top humor, gory special effects, and tongue-in-cheek references to classic horror films. The film premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival in 2003 and went on to win a number of awards, including Best Feature Film at the Australian Film Critics Association Award.
