Uncle Drew

Comedy  United States of America

"Uncle Drew" is a sports comedy film that was released in 2018, directed by Charles Stone III and written by Jay Longino. The movie stars NBA basketball player Kyrie Irving as the titular character Uncle Drew, an older man who was once a legendary streetball player in his prime.

The plot revolves around Dax (played by Lil Rel Howery), a young basketball fan who dreams of winning a tournament at Harlem’s Rucker Park. After losing his entire life savings in a bet with his rival (played by Nick Kroll), he seeks out Uncle Drew to recruit him and his old team of basketball players to compete in the tournament.

Uncle Drew agrees, but only on the condition that he can assemble his own team of older players who are now in their 70s, including his former teammate Preacher (played by Chris Webber), his rival Mookie (played by Nate Robinson), and his former flame Boots (played by Lisa Leslie), among others.

The movie follows the group as they train and compete in the tournament against younger, more skilled players, facing off against Dax and his own group of players. Along the way, they share stories and learn new lessons about life and basketball, proving that age is just a number when it comes to the love of the game.

"Uncle Drew" was praised for its comedic performances and basketball action sequences, with many fans of the sport enjoying the cameo appearances from real NBA players such as Shaquille O’Neal and Reggie Miller. Overall, the movie was a fun and feel-good sports film that delighted fans of basketball and comedy alike.
