Sandra, played by Marion Cotillard, is a factory worker who has been away from work due to depression and anxiety. Upon returning, she learns that her colleagues have been offered a bonus if they vote for Sandra to be laid off instead of taking a reduction in bonuses. Sandra has only two days and one night to convince her colleagues to change their vote and let her keep her job.
Sandra's husband Manu is supportive and helps her write a script to appeal to her colleagues. Together, they go door-to-door to meet Sandra's colleagues in hopes of convincing them to change their minds. Along the way, Sandra faces rejection and emotional struggles as she comes to terms with the possibility of losing her job.
The film also explores the themes of solidarity and empathy, as Sandra's colleagues weigh their own needs against her job security. Despite the difficult circumstances, Sandra finds glimmers of hope and support from unexpected sources.
Directed by Belgian brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, Two Days, One Night won several awards at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
