Twist is a 2021 British crime drama film directed by Martin Owen and written by John Wrathall, Sally Collett and Martin Owen. The film is a modern adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel Oliver Twist, set in modern-day London.
The film follows Twist (Rafferty Law), a 19-year-old graffiti artist, who is orphaned at a young age and ends up living on the streets of London. Twist is taken under the wing of a group of young hustlers, led by Dodge (Rita Ora) and Batesy (Franz Drameh).
The group gets involved in a dangerous scheme to steal a priceless painting from a billionaire art collector, Mr. Bailey (Michael Caine). Along the way, Twist falls for Bailey's beautiful niece, Red (Sophie Simnett), whose loyalty is tested as the heist unfolds.
As the plan slowly unravels, Twist and his friends find themselves in over their heads, with the police hot on their trail and the ruthless Bailey determined to get his property back at any cost.
The film also stars Lena Headey as Sikes, a criminal mastermind who helps the gang execute their plan, and David Walliams as Losberne, a detective investigating the robbery.
In addition to its modern setting and diverse casting, Twist also features dynamic action sequences and innovative visual effects, making it a fresh take on a timeless story.
