Twa-Tiu-Tiann is a Taiwanese romantic comedy directed by Wei Te-sheng. The movie's main character is Kuang-yao Lan, a college boy who is about to graduate and start his career. He loves to study Taiwanese history and is fascinated by a painting called "South Street Festival," which depicts the traditional Taiwanese festival held in the 1920s.
One day, Kuang-yao visits an antique shop and sees a replica of the painting. He stares at it for a long time, when suddenly, he is sucked into the painting and finds himself in the middle of the South Street Festival. He is confused and scared at first, but soon realizes he has time-traveled and is now in Taiwan during the Japanese occupation era.
Kuang-yao meets the locals and learns about the culture and lifestyle during that time. He attempts to find a way back to 2014 but is unsuccessful. Meanwhile, he falls in love with a geisha girl named Ah Mei, who instantly catches his attention.
As Kuang-yao dives deeper into the lives of the people from the past, he gains a better understanding and appreciation of Taiwanese culture and history. He realizes that he cannot return to his own time, and eventually accepts his fate and falls in love with Ah Mei.
Twa-Tiu-Tiann is a heartwarming story that bridges the gap between the past and present, showcasing the beauty and richness of Taiwanese culture and history. The film was a critical and commercial success, becoming one of the highest-grossing films in Taiwan's box office history.
