Turtles Forever begins in the 2003 series' universe where the Turtles are battling the villainous Shredder and his ally Krang. During the battle, the Turtles are unexpectedly transported to an alternate universe where they meet their counterparts from the 1987 animated series. The Turtles from the 1987 series are confused by the 2003 Turtles' more serious and mature demeanor, but the two teams eventually team up to stop the villainous Shredder from destroying all of the multiverse.
Things get even more complicated when the Turtles encounter their counterparts from the comic book version of the franchise, who are more violent and aggressive than any of their animated counterparts. The different versions of the Turtles team up to defeat their common enemy and even encounter the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who make a cameo appearance.
Throughout the movie, the Turtles learn important lessons about teamwork, friendship, and the power of hope. Turtles Forever is a love letter to the entire Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, celebrating its longevity and the many different versions of the characters that have entertained fans over the years. The movie was praised for its fun story, excellent voice acting, and nostalgic nods to the franchise's history.
