Trust Me

Comedy  United States of America

Trust Me is a 2013 American comedy-drama film directed by Clark Gregg, who also stars in the film as the lead character, Howard. The film also stars Sam Rockwell, Amanda Peet, Saxon Sharbino, and William H. Macy in supporting roles.

The story revolves around Howard, a struggling Hollywood agent who works tirelessly to land a big break until he finally spots a potential star in 13-year-old Lydia (played by Sharbino). Howard takes on Lydia as his client and starts to groom her, believing that she could be his ticket to success in the cutthroat world of Tinseltown.

However, Howard soon realizes that Lydia's life is highly controlled by her self-absorbed mother, Alice (played by Peet), who is more interested in exploiting her daughter's talent for her own benefit rather than nurturing her potential. Howard's true intentions are tested when he discovers that the people he works for aren't always as honest and sincere as he is.

As the film progresses, Howard tries to balance his honesty and integrity as an agent with the harsh realities of the industry, all the while trying to protect Lydia from the potentially dangerous consequences of Hollywood's darker side. With the help of his friend and fellow agent Aldo (played by Rockwell), Howard has to navigate a treacherous world where success usually comes at a high price.

Trust Me presents a unique perspective on the Hollywood machine, exploring the complexities of fame and ambition with sharp wit and humor. It ultimately reveals that the industry's hunger for profit often comes at the expense of those who are most vulnerable, making it tough for anyone to truly trust anyone else in this cutthroat environment.
