Trucker is a 2008 drama film directed by James Mottern and starring Michelle Monaghan, Nathan Fillion, and Jimmy Bennett.
The film follows Diane Ford (Monaghan), a tough and independent truck driver who spends her days traveling across the country delivering goods. She has little to no contact with her 11-year-old son, Peter (Bennett), who lives with his father, Len (Fillion), in California.
When Len falls ill, he asks Diane to take care of Peter for a while. Diane reluctantly agrees, and Peter comes to live with her in her truck. At first, the two struggle to bond, with Diane's rough exterior and Peter's resentment towards his mother for abandoning him.
As they continue on the road together, Diane and Peter begin to form a relationship, and Diane starts to see the value in having her son in her life. However, complications arise when Len's condition worsens and Diane is forced to choose between her job and taking care of her family.
Trucker is a poignant exploration of the relationship between a mother and son, as well as a character study of a woman struggling to balance her tough exterior with the needs of those around her. The film was well-received by critics for its realistic portrayal of life on the road and the heartfelt performances of Monaghan and Bennett.
