The movie Troop Beverly Hills follows the story of Phyllis Nefler (played by Shelley Long), a wealthy Beverly Hills housewife who is going through a divorce with her husband Freddy (played by Craig T. Nelson). Phyllis is struggling to find a sense of purpose in her life, and after seeing her daughter Hannah's (played by Jenny Lewis) Girl Scout troop struggle to find a new leader, Phyllis decides to take on the role herself.
Despite facing opposition from the troop's current leader Velda (played by Betty Thomas), who believes Phyllis is not fit to lead due to her privileged lifestyle, Phyllis sets out to prove everyone wrong. With the help of her loyal assistant Annie (played by Mary Gross) and a group of misfit troop members, Phyllis transforms the troop into the Wilderness Girls, a group of strong, independent young women who learn valuable life skills while also having fun in the wilderness.
Along the way, Phyllis must also navigate her divorce and strained relationship with her ex-husband, all while trying to be the best troop leader she can be. The movie highlights themes of female empowerment, self-discovery, and the importance of true friendship. In the end, Phyllis and the Wilderness Girls not only earn their badges but also learn important lessons about themselves and each other.
