As Andy prepares to leave for college, his toys are left in a box destined for the attic. However, a mix-up results in the toys being donated to Sunnyside Daycare instead. At first, Woody believes that it is a great place for them, but they soon learn that the daycare is ruled by an abusive teddy bear named Lotso. The other toys at the daycare are also mistreated and plan their escape with the help of the new toys that they meet, including a Ken doll who falls in love with Barbie. They eventually make their escape, but not before dealing with a heart-wrenching sacrifice and a thrilling chase on a garbage truck. In the end, they find a new home with Bonnie, a little girl who loves them just as much as Andy did. The movie is a powerful portrayal of growing up, acceptance, and the enduring bonds of friendship.
