Andy's toys, including Woody and Buzz Lightyear, are living their usual lives when Woody is stolen by a toy collector named Al McWhiggen, who plans to sell Woody to a toy museum in Japan. Meanwhile, Buzz Lightyear and the other toys realize that Woody has been kidnapped and set out to rescue him.
Woody finds himself in Al's Toy Barn, a massive toy store filled with hundreds of new toys. He meets Jessie, a cowgirl toy who was once part of a TV show called Woody's Roundup, along with the prospector toy, Stinky Pete. Initially, Woody is excited about being part of a collection and is reluctant to leave.
Meanwhile, Buzz and the other toys track down Al's Toy Barn and hatch a plan to rescue Woody. They encounter new challenges along the way, including a showdown with the toy store's security system.
Back at Al's Toy Barn, Woody learns about Jessie's painful past and decides to help her and the other Roundup toys. However, when Woody discovers that Al plans to sell him and Jessie to the museum while abandoning the other toys, he realizes that he needs to reunite with Andy and his friends.
In the end, Woody and Buzz face off against Stinky Pete and rescue Jessie and the other Roundup toys. Woody ultimately decides to return home with Andy, bringing along Jessie and Bullseye, a toy horse he met during his adventure. The movie ends with Andy's toys happily reunited and Woody realizing that his true place is with those who love him.
