The movie Tower of Terror is a mystery-thriller film that was released in 1997. The story revolves around a disgraced journalist named Buzzy Crocker (played by Steve Guttenberg), who is determined to uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of five people from the luxurious Hollywood Tower Hotel in 1939.
Buzzy Crocker, who was once a reputable reporter, is now working for a supermarket tabloid. When he learns about the story of the missing people, he sees it as an opportunity to reclaim his reputation. He teams up with his niece, Anna (played by Kirsten Dunst), to investigate the abandoned hotel, which has been closed for 60 years.
As they explore the hotel, they come across strange occurrences and ghostly appearances. The ghosts of the five people who disappeared from the hotel begin to haunt them, revealing the dark secrets of the hotel's past. Buzzy and Anna also stumble upon a diary that belonged to the hotel's bellhop, who was one of the five people who disappeared. The diary helps them piece together the events that led to the tragic incident.
As the mystery unravels, Buzzy and Anna realize that the people who disappeared were wrongly accused of stealing a valuable diamond belonging to actress Claire Poulet (played by Melora Hardin). The hotel's owner, Dewey Todd (played by Michael McShane), had framed them and caused their disappearance.
Buzzy and Anna manage to uncover the truth and free the ghosts of the five people from their earthly ties. In the end, Buzzy's reputation is restored, and the Hollywood Tower Hotel is reopened.
