Touchez Pas au Grisbi is a French crime drama film released in 1954, directed by Jacques Becker and adapted from the novel of the same name by Albert Simonin. The film tells the story of Max (played by Jean Gabin), a respected and successful gangster who, along with his partner Riton (played by René Dary), has just pulled off a major heist. They plan to retire and enjoy their newfound wealth. However, Max's younger mistress, Josey (played by Jeanne Moreau), becomes aware of the robbery and pressures Max to reveal the details of the theft.

At the same time, Angelo (played by Lino Ventura), an ambitious young gangster and rival of Max, has become aware of the stolen loot and plots to steal it himself. He orders his henchmen to kidnap Riton and hold him for ransom, threatening Max's plans for retirement. Max, torn between his loyalty to his friend and the threats made by Angelo, must find a way to get his partner back and protect his stash of gold.

The film is a classic example of the French film noir genre, with its dark themes, morally ambiguous characters, and gritty urban setting. It is seen as a precursor to the French New Wave movement and is praised for its realistic portrayal of the criminal underworld. The performances by the main cast members, particularly Gabin and Moreau, are widely acclaimed, with Gabin's portrayal of Max considered a defining role in his career.
