Too Late for Tears is a film noir directed by Byron Haskin and released by United Artists in 1949. The film stars Lizabeth Scott, Arthur Kennedy, Dan Duryea, and Kristine Miller.
Jane and Alan Palmer, a seemingly respectable couple, find themselves in possession of a satchel full of cash after it is thrown into their back seat by a speeding car. Alan suggests they turn the money over to the police, but Jane persuades him to keep it for themselves. Soon, they are tracked down by Danny Fuller, a sleazy character who claims the money is his.
As the Palmers come under increasing pressure to give up the money, they begin to turn on each other, with Jane becoming increasingly ruthless and manipulative in her efforts to maintain control. Along the way, they encounter various other dangerous characters, including an unscrupulous private investigator and a murderous gangster.
