In Tomorrow Never Dies, media mogul Elliot Carver (played by Jonathan Pryce) owns a powerful global media empire and is unhappy with the restrictions placed on his business in China. Carver decides to stage events, including a British ship sinking off the coast of China, in order to pit the superpowers against each other and increase his profit margins.
MI6 sends agent James Bond (played by Pierce Brosnan) to investigate Carver's activities and stop him from igniting a war. Bond teams up with Chinese agent Wai Lin (played by Michelle Yeoh) to uncover the truth about Carver's schemes and put a stop to his plans.
As Bond and Lin delve deeper into Carver's plans, they are met with resistance and must fight back against his henchmen to prevent a global catastrophe. Their mission takes them to unique locations such as the South China Sea and a high-tech media headquarters in Hamburg, Germany.
Along the way, Bond also has to confront his ex-lover, Paris Carver (played by Teri Hatcher), who is now married to Elliot Carver but still harbors feelings for Bond. Together, Bond and Lin use their skills and gadgets to stop Carver and his minions and prevent a war that could destroy the world.
