Drama,Music  United Kingdom

Tommy is a rock musical film released in 1975, directed by Ken Russell and based on the rock opera album by The Who. The film tells the story of a boy named Tommy Walker (played by Roger Daltrey), who witnessed a traumatic experience as a child that caused him to become psychosomatically deaf, dumb, and blind. Despite his disability, Tommy discovers an uncanny talent for playing pinball and becomes a master player.

As Tommy's pinball fame spreads, he becomes the object of a religious cult led by his mother (played by Ann-Margret) and stepfather (played by Oliver Reed), who see him as a messiah figure. The cult's worship of Tommy ultimately leads to his exploitation, as they use him to gain power and fortune.

Throughout the film, Tommy is challenged to confront his past traumas and come to terms with his disability, leading to a powerful and emotional climax. The film features an all-star cast, including performances by Elton John, Jack Nicholson, and Tina Turner, and is known for its imaginative visual style and iconic rock songs.

Tommy was a critical and commercial success and is considered a landmark of the rock opera genre. It has inspired countless adaptations and was later adapted into a successful stage musical.
