Tolo Tolo is a 2020 Italian comedy film directed by and starring Checco Zalone as Checco, a young and naive Italian entrepreneur who, in an effort to escape his financial troubles, decides to emigrate to Africa and start a new life.

After a failed attempt at running a sushi restaurant in Apulia, Checco takes a job as a waiter at a resort in Kenya. He quickly befriends his African coworkers, but their idyllic life is disrupted by the outbreak of a civil war, forcing Checco to flee for his life.

With no other options, Checco decides to join a group of African migrants on a treacherous journey across the Mediterranean in an overcrowded and unsafe boat. Despite the dangers, Checco remains optimistic and relies on his sense of humor to keep everyone's spirits up.

Upon reaching the shores of Sicily, Checco is arrested by the police and detained in a refugee camp. He becomes disillusioned with his dream of a better life in Europe and decides to return home to Italy.

Back in Italy, Checco initially struggles to readjust to life as a failure, but he eventually finds hope in the form of an unexpected business opportunity. He decides to use his experiences and newfound empathy for migrants to start a successful business helping refugees integrate into Italian society.

Throughout the film, Checco's journey is marked by a mix of both hilarious and heartwarming moments, as he navigates cultural differences and social challenges in a quest for a better life. Ultimately, Tolo Tolo is a poignant and entertaining exploration of immigration, identity, and the human spirit.
