To the Devil a Daughter is a 1976 horror film directed by Peter Sykes and produced by Hammer Film Productions. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Dennis Wheatley, and it is considered one of the most controversial and disturbing films in the Hammer Horror series.
The story revolves around an American novelist named John Verney (Richard Widmark), who has been asked by a friend to travel to London and retrieve his teenage daughter Catherine (Nastassja Kinski). Catherine has been raised in a remote convent by a mysterious cult called the Children of the Lord, led by a charismatic but excommunicated Catholic priest named Father Michael Rayner (Christopher Lee).
As John sets out to rescue Catherine, he discovers that the cult plans to use her in a ritualistic ceremony to bring the Devil himself to Earth. John races against time to save Catherine's soul, while Father Rayner and his followers will stop at nothing to achieve their evil goal.
The movie is known for its shocking and graphic scenes, including a controversial naked ritual sacrifice involving Catherine, and has been criticized for its exploitation of Kinski's youth and beauty.
