Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is a 2011 espionage thriller film directed by Tomas Alfredson and based on the novel of the same name by John le Carré. The movie is set during the 1970s in London, at the height of the Cold War.

The story follows George Smiley (played by Gary Oldman), a senior member of the British intelligence agency MI6, who is called out of retirement to investigate a suspected Russian mole within the agency. The mission is set in motion after a mission in Hungary goes awry and an agent named Ricki Tarr (Tom Hardy) claims that there is a mole code-named "Gerald" working at the highest levels of MI6.

Smiley begins his investigation by reassembling his old team and interviewing former colleagues to try to determine who the mole could be. As the investigation deepens, Smiley uncovers a web of deceit, betrayal, and corruption that leads all the way to the top of the intelligence community.

The film features a star-studded cast, including Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, John Hurt, and Mark Strong, and was praised for its tense atmosphere, stellar performances, and intricate plot. It received four Academy Award nominations, including Best Actor for Gary Oldman, and was widely regarded as one of the best films of 2011.
