Timecop is a 1994 science fiction action film that stars Jean-Claude Van Damme as Max Walker, a police officer working for the Time Enforcement Commission (TEC), a government agency tasked with preventing unauthorized time travel and ensuring that history is preserved.

Walker's wife Melissa (Mia Sara) died during a time travel experiment gone wrong ten years prior to the events of the film, and the incident left Walker with a deep distrust of time travel technology. However, he is forced to revisit his past when he learns that a corrupt politician named Senator McComb (Ron Silver) is planning to use time travel for his own selfish purposes.

As Walker investigates McComb's plans, he discovers that the senator has ties to his wife's death and that he may have played a role in the tragic incident. With the help of his partner, Sarah (Yancy Butler), and a rogue time traveler named Atwood (Bruce McGill), Walker must stop McComb before he alters the course of history and destroys everything that Walker holds dear.

The film features thrilling action sequences, including a car chase through different time periods and a climactic fight between Walker and McComb on board a hovering time machine. It also explores complex themes of loss, regret, and the consequences of meddling with the past.

Timecop was directed by Peter Hyams and written by Mike Richardson and Mark Verheiden, based on the comic book of the same name by Richardson. It was a box office success and led to a short-lived television series in 1997.
