After Alec Graham is sentenced to death, his father David Graham rushes to England to visit him in prison. However, he finds that his son is barely coherent due to the heavy use of sleeping pills. David begins to investigate the case himself, determined to clear his son's name and uncover the real killer.
He meets with various people linked to the case, including Brian Stanford and his family, as well as Agnes' father and her former boss. As he delves deeper into the investigation, David uncovers a web of lies and deceit, with several people potentially having a motive for Agnes' murder.
